BACKGROUND & Motivation
Welcome, fellow fasting explorer (or curious newcomer)! I’m Nikhil, and I’m here to guide you on this transformative journey into the world of fasting. As a busy dad (36 in 2024, phew!), I’m always looking for ways to optimize my health.
My background in Biotechnology (IIT grad) and passion for fitness (state-level basketball player, back in the day) fuelled my deep interest to understand the mechanisms of the human body and implement effective strategies to maximize healthspan. This fascination fuelled a relentless pursuit of knowledge and experimentation.
Over time, I have explored and integrated various evidence-based practices into my routine. Intermittent fasting has been part of my routine for over three years. I have also experimented with several extended water-only fasts ranging from three to five days. Other practices include cold showers (thanks to Mr. Wim Hof), meditation, rising early, and most recently, weight training. This exploration has not only transformed my own health but also ignited a passion for sharing these insights with others.
In 2022, I took a two-year career break to live in Japan. Intrigued by their exceptional longevity despite their demanding work culture, I closely observed their unique food habits and lifestyle choices.
Through this blog, I hope to share my experiences and insights, fostering a community where we can learn from each other and embark on our own journeys to optimal health.
